8 July 2027, 19:15 – 21:30 The Main Hall, The Millennium Centre, 2-10 Ontario Way, Liphook GU30 7LD Rachael Plassard is a jewellery designer and teacher based at Hotwalls Studios in Old Portsmouth. She started making jewellery from a young age, learning from her mother and grandmother, both jewellers, before working in Hatton Garden and studying at Morley College and West Dean College, and going on to complete an MA in Jewellery at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. Her work draws inspiration from ornamental design throughout the decorative arts, with a particular love for the acanthus motif, layering up decorative surfaces and weaving personal narratives beneath the surface. Rachael's work has been shown at exhibitions including Shine at the Goldsmiths' Centre, Spotlighting, Craft Festival Bovey Tracey and New Ashgate Gallery's Rising Stars. Alongside making her own collections, bespoke and remodelled jewellery, Rachael teaches from her studio, running small group workshops and private wedding ring workshops. In this demo, Rachael will be talking through her own journey in jewellery making, and how she found her artistic voice and visual language through experimentation, research, drawing and maquette making. Rachael will be bringing along lots of samples and maquettes, as well as finished pieces of jewellery. She will be demonstrating some of the traditional jewellery making techniques she uses in her work, including drilling, sawing, forming, Keum boo (fusing gold foil), etching and oxidising. www.rachaelplassard.com Pricing & Availability Free of charge for our members. Non-members will be charged £5 on the door. Please feel free to come along - no need to book!
